What is LPG and why should I use it to fuel my vehicle?
LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas or Autogas), is a blend of propane and butane which takes liquid form when pressurised. It is a fossil fuel like petrol; however it produces far less CO2 and harmful gases after combustion and is approximately half the price of petrol.
LPG takes the same route through the engine as petrol. A conversion involves a LPG tank being fitted in your boot, spare wheel well or under body, a set of injectors, a filler system and an ECU (computer) to talk to your cars management system. We fit a small postage stamp sized LPG gauge to the dashboard which tells you how much you have left and also acts as a switch that allows you to alternate between LPG and Petrol mode.
There are currently estimated to be 4 million LPG-fuelled vehicles in Europe with 140,000 of these on UK roads. With more than 1400 LPG re-fuelling stations nationwide, the majority of these being traditional petrol stations, there is a comprehensive infrastructure making LPG a practical option for many motorists.

The benefits of using LPG include:
Fuel and Parking Savings: The Government has committed to giving a three-year warning about any fuel duty rises. LPG users pay between 50% and 80% less Vehicle Excise Duty on their fuel than their petrol and diesel counterparts.

Free resident parking is offered by some London Councils. LPG parking discounts are also offered from Councils including the London Boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Richmond and Islington.
Congestion Charge Exemption Savings: Some cars once converted to LPG are classified as Band 4 in the Powershift Register. This means that once an Alternative Fuel Discount form has been completed and processed you will benefit from being exempt from paying the Congestion Charge and you will just have to pay £10 per annum to use the zone.
Low Emissions: CO2 emissions are reduced by 20% • methane and oxides of nitrate are cut by approximately 80% in stark contrast to diesel. LPG does not produce particulate emissions
Benefits for your Engine: The simple chemical composition of LPG means that it burns more cleanly than either petrol or diesel • It enters the combustion cylinder as a gas and produces fewer deposits when burned, so the engine runs more smoothly and has a longer life
Noise Reduction: An LPG powered engine will produce less noise than one running on traditional fuels, lowering noise pollution and making driving more enjoyable
UK Energy Security: The enormous domestic production-level of LPG means that by switching your fuel choice, you can be assured of energy security for years to come
Safety: All our conversions are carried out under the regulations of the LPGA governing body; LPG is actually safer than petrol in many respects. We have been cooking on gas rather than petrol for years.
